This is a collection of Ministerial Shorts. Now, I didn’t call them Ministerial Short Stories. The subtitle is on purpose. My particular brand of church growing up didn’t allow the wearing of shorts, so even the title makes me laugh. Couldn’t play cards, either. And hanging out at the swimming pool could really take away points needed to make it into Heaven! As disciples, we tend to gravitate toward the point system for some reason. We need to laugh. As the redeemed, we should be THE MOST HAPPY of folks that are running around Planet Here. Sometimes we act as if it’s a sin to grin or like we’ve been baptized in vinegar and weaned on sauerkraut. If brainless is the order of the evening, then you can’t go wrong with this book.

This book precludes the idea of Sunday only Christianity. This stance also cost the author his positions as pulpit minister. At no time since leaving the official ministry has he ceased from leading and teaching individuals, or small groups in homes, the way of God. Christianity is the idea of One Another in the Body Life of the local church. Many come in, sit down, go through the motion of devotion, deposit a check and leave. Many are not significantly changed by their Christian experience because they have not experienced Christianity. What you will find in these pages is what the author believes the Scriptures teach on the idea of Body Life, which can only be arrived at if the right map is followed. That map is the Bible and the legend to that map is composed of the One Another commands found between Malachi and Maps. You should consult that road map while reading this book.

Flyboys, Round Engines and Spooks is a historical novel based on the experiences and exploits of a young air force lieutenant in Southeast Asia during the Vietnamese war. Young Eddie Warner serves as a pilot in both C-124s and the top secret EC-47 as he searches for the mystery woman of his dreams. The reader joins Eddie in the cockpit and shares the action and frustrations of flying in America’s most controversial war. Join Eddie as he matures in the nostalgic era of old piston engines, spark plugs, jungle and Asian splendor. Witness the top secret operations in the Plain of Jars that were labeled by the news media as the CIA’s secret war. Most of the flying is depicted as it actually happened. The culture of the crew members, their life styles, and the revelations are authentic as well as the places depicted. The characters and the story of Eddie are realistic but fictional. TESTIMONIAL: Lee, Flyboys, Round Engines and Spooks is a terrific accomplishment on your part! It succeeds on many levels, and it certainly for me is one of the "timeless" books I've ever read. The majority of this book was "channeled" while walking through the pristine nature of New Zealand, tapped out on an iPhone to inspire, and to be inspired. Stephanie Hamilton is a mother of three, has lived abroad for much of her adult life as an expat in the Middle East and in New Zealand. Her life experiences and challenges have been a strong inspiration for creating this book, where she believes that we all can relate and connect to at some level. This book is not an exhaustive treatise on the King James Bible nor is it intended to be. The author\'s intention is to show that the King James Bible is the reliable, authoritative Bible to the English-speaking world. Sadly, there is an attack on the King James Bible even from Pentecostal leaders themselves. This is unwarranted and should not gain any favor with the true, authentic people of God! Actually, much research has been done on this subject throughout the hundreds of years the King James Bible has been in existence. This book assembles much knowledge that has already been discovered and proclaimed in one way or another throughout these years. Much of the book is written in the first person because it was gleaned from a series of Sunday Bible lessons taught in the author\'s church.

"I think my first awareness that I was marginal and having difficulty paying attention and following the “rules” of order happened in the second grade. I was always bouncing about, curious as to what everyone else was doing. One day I was pulled out of the class by the school counselor who asked me why it was that every time I was called upon by the teacher, I would turn around in my desk and reply, “Who me?” All the good intentions of those faithful teachers were for naught—my eyes generally glancing to the outside to see what was going on out there and not to what was being written on the chalkboard. Even my religious instructors throughout my life have had grave concerns—in a manner of speaking. I’ve been bouncing around ever since, never really choosing a path, but simply reacting to every experience that has been placed in my way."

Levinia Perry arrived in Mountain City, Colorado Territory, from Cornwall, England, on September 21, 1863. The day she stepped off the stagecoach, she married her sweetheart Hugh Champion, who had waited for her for two long years. This book, authored by her granddaughter Amy Hoskin Hill and adapted by the author’s grandson, Dennis Mayfield, tells the true story of Levinia’s struggles in the mining town that became Central City, Colorado. Life was not easy for this couple. Four of their ten children had died by the time Hugh passed away at an early age. Two more had died by the time Levinia passed away. They endured cycles of births, deaths, floods, fires, feast and famine as the town grew with the discovery of gold and cycled back to poverty for Levinia and her family. Dennis Mayfield provides the Foreword, telling how it came about that this story is finally published 27 years after the death of the author. It includes a brief description of the difficult life of this pioneer family. He then follows his grandmother’s Epilogue with an Afterword and Addendum. The Afterword includes the disposition of many of Levinia’s belongings, genealogy information and whether a prayer and promise made to her was fulfilled. The Addendum describes how Levinia’s family Bible was miraculously returned to him by a complete stranger and is now in a family home 30 miles from where the story began.

Women write of poverty, homelessness and hope. As communities across the nation attempt to address the issues of homelessness and poverty, the voices of women remain largely unheard. At a weekly Writer’s Group in a local Denver community organization, a group of women gather for moments of reflection and attempt to put their experiences into words. With wisdom and clarity they redefine the notion of home, depict the realities of street and shelter survival, the trials of family life and the sheer joy that comes from a day that goes well or having a key, a room, and a door that closes. Their artwork serves to further enhance their words and offers another form of creative expression. "One Day, One Night at a Time" is a celebration of people who are finding the strength in their stories and the power that comes from artistic expression and simply being heard.

"These are just a few recollections of my life and times. Not much for seventy-plus years, but it was an average life, no big achievements that the world knows about, sometimes dull and routine, but that's life. I wouldn't change a thing. My days are short now, and I think there should be some record that I was here. I read somewhere that life is too great a thing to live it only once and then have it snuffed out like a lamp when the wind blows. I agree, but who knows? Eventually, my children, or my grandchildren, will lose these pages, and I'll simply be a name and a date on a genealogy chart, but that's life too. Your mother said she would write a few words some day, because her perspective of our times together will be very different from mine. I'm writing this basically for myself, to help me remember early, happy days. If others want to read it, that's ok. But remember, I never said this was classical literature, and most people won't be interested. I started this autobiography in April 1999. I quit after a few pages because I thought I was going to die, and then resumed again in January 2002. Who thought I would still be here in 2002, or 2006 for that matter? Now that I've gotten a start again, I don't know if there is enough time to finish. Not that my life was all that interesting, but it was my life, I had some good times, and when I'm gone, nobody will know anything about them."
